Testimonial Take: willpower and self-confidence

Take (22) works as Screening Operations at Adyen. He talks about the support and relaxed atmosphere during the contact with Studentflex, his work at Adyen and his view on working with different cultures.

HOW IT STARTED

“During my bachelor, I was looking for a part-time job where I would be able to learn something. A friend recommended Studentflex to me and it went very quickly from there. During the intake interview I was told that it could take three weeks before I would hear something, but four hours later I was being called for the position of Screening Operations at Adyen. I especially liked the support and relaxed atmosphere during the interviews and telephone conversations with Studentflex. The contact was very approachable.”

WORKING AT ADYEN

“From the perspective of my studies and interests, I was not engaging with the financial sector. That’s why I started looking into the company, talked to others who worked there and spoke again with Studentflex about Adyen. This all gave me more motivation. These different perspectives helped enormously because this position wasn’t something I would normally look at straight away, but the international aspect and the social focus of Adyen really appealed to me.

Currently, I’m working as Screening Operations and I mainly check payment details to see if there is no fraud and if all company registrations are correct. At our daily meetings, and in general, our feedback is often requested and our own initiatives are highly appreciated. We are also regularly asked to help new employees, which makes for a nice variety.”

TAKE’S DEVELOPMENT

“In my studies, I mainly focus on social and societal aspects and I like that very much, but sometimes it’s also quite vague and abstract. What exactly can and do I want to do with this? My personal ambition is to fulfil a social function on an international level. Because of Adyen, I’m in contact with people from different backgrounds who have different ways of working and communicating. I find it very interesting to get involved in this intercultural communication and to learn more about it. I also notice that the open culture at Adyen makes me express myself more quickly about things and that this is also appreciated: this gives willpower and self-confidence.”
